Plutarch · c. AD 46-after 119
Plutarch's Life of Caesar, written as one book with the Life of Alexander, follows Caesar from his youth under Sulla through his rise at Rome, the Gallic wars and the civil war with Pompey to his dictatorship and his murder by a conspiracy around Brutus and Cassius. Plutarch gives the dreams and omens that came before the murder on the Ides of March. He ends with the aftermath, the avenging of Caesar and the fate of Brutus.
