Life of Marcellus

Μάρκελλος

Plutarch's Life of Marcellus follows Marcus Claudius Marcellus, five times consul of Rome, through his war against the Gauls, his fights with Hannibal and his siege of Syracuse. The Life includes the spoils offered to Zeus (Jupiter) Feretrius, the engines of Archimedes and Marcellus' death in an ambush between the camps near Venusia. It is paired with the Life of Pelopidas, and a Comparison of the two follows.
