Plutarch · c. AD 46-after 119
Plutarch's Life of Sertorius tells of Quintus Sertorius, the one-eyed Roman commander of the party of Marius who made himself master of Spain and fought Metellus and Pompey there. It covers his early campaigns, his stay in Africa and the tale of the Islands of the Blest, the white doe, his wars with Roman armies, his treaty with Mithridates and his murder at the hands of Perpenna's conspirators. The Life is paired with the Life of Eumenes, and the Comparison of Sertorius and Eumenes follows it.
