Life of Aemilius Paulus

Αἰμίλιος Παῦλος

Plutarch's Life of Aemilius Paulus follows the Roman commander who, as consul for the second time, defeated Perseus, king of Macedonia, near Pydna and ended the royal line of Antigonus. It covers his earlier career in Spain and against the Ligurians, the campaign and the battle with the phalanx, his triumph and the deaths of his two young sons. It is paired with the Life of Timoleon, and a Comparison of the two follows.
