Life of Eumenes

Εὐμένης

Plutarch's Life of Eumenes tells of Eumenes of Cardia, who rose from Philip's following to be Alexander's chief secretary and after Alexander's death held Cappadocia for Perdiccas and the kings against Antipater, Craterus and Antigonus. It covers his dealings with Alexander and Hephaestion, the defeat and death of Craterus, the siege of Nora, the war against Antigonus in the eastern satrapies and his betrayal by the Silver-shields. The Life is paired with the Life of Sertorius.
