Life of Pompey

Πομπήϊος

Plutarch's Life of Pompey follows Pompeius Magnus, called Pompey the Great, from his youth in the civil wars of Cinna and Sulla to his murder on the Egyptian shore after the defeat at Pharsalus. It covers his wars in Africa and Spain, against the pirates and against Mithridates, his alliance with Caesar and Crassus, and the break with Caesar. It is paired with the Life of Agesilaus, and the two are followed by a comparison.
