Xena

Xena

Xena is a fictional character that was created for the television series Xena: Warrior Princess. The series was based on various myths of ancient Greece and adapted them to fit the scenario. Xena was depicted as the daughter of Orestes and Cyrene, although in one episode, it is mentioned that the god of war Ares may have been her biological father. Throughout the series, Xena tried to redeem herself for the villainous activities that she committed in the past, and became a hero trying to help people in need. She was always accompanied by her best friend Gabrielle.

Her first appearance was in the television series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, in which she appeared as a villain. However, the positive reaction of the audience and the critics caused the producers of the series to create the spin-off series in which Xena was the protagonist. Her signature weapon was the chakram, a throwing weapon which she masterfully deflected off various surfaces in order to hit multiple targets in one throw. The character was played by the New Zealand actress Lucy Lawless.
