Plato of Athens, a pupil of Socrates and the founder of the Academy, wrote his philosophy as dialogues. In them he gives Athens, Crete and Egypt their stories, weaves myths such as Er's journey in the Republic and the lost island of Atlantis into his arguments, and discusses the gods, Minos, the heroes and the poets. The works are cited by Stephanus page and section, such as Republic 514a.
