Epic Cycle

Ἐπικὸς Κύκλος

c. 7th-6th century BC

The Epic Cycle is the name given to a group of early Greek epic poems, now lost, that told the story of the gods and the heroes from the union of Heaven and Earth to the death of Odysseus. They were attributed to poets such as Eumelus, Stasinus, Arctinus, Lesches, Agias and Eugammon, and they filled in the story before and after Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. Only a few quotations and the plot summaries made by Proclus survive.
