When I was little the version of Orpheus and Euridices that I was told, Orpheus' tale of his love for his wife melts Persephone's heart and she lets them leave, but Hades was like 'nuh uh that's too easy,' so he put the twist on it. So I, being a literal child, always pictured her with her heart outside of her body and encased in ice.

I don't think Persephone ever really loved Hades, since he kidnapped her and all, it's not the best way to start out a relationship. I think they worked more as partners than a couple.
