Apollo Picture

Finally I am able to complete a master copy from my trip to Italy! This is Apollo, one of the most complex gods of Greek mythology. I took the pose from a 2nd century AD Roman sculpture at the Vatican, in the a form of "kouros", the male perfection of youth, so good anatomy practice there!

I chose Apollo not only b/c he was the god of light and healing/plague, not to mention a swashbuckling playa with many lovers (both gals and lads O.o), but he was also the leader of the Muses - goddesses of the arts, a group of smart ladies who were supposedly the source of all knowledge as we know it. So, in danger of unleashing my nerdish roots, I'm going to try to render these Muses in my future work - just with my own spin to it
