Orpheus V: Sotto Voce Picture

Completed: April 2004
Medium: Acrylic, collage

Orpheus, approaching his love, sees that the same fate was bestowed upon his new muse and love as afflicted his guitar. He lightly brushes Eurydice’s hair aside to see that her tattoo is now snapped, along with the tattering of her dress. She is no longer an object of inspiration. She is no longer alive. Shifting shadows linger in the background overlooking them. They are the translucent souls of the dead.
