The Channel Picture

I've always loved the "evil" versions of sirens and mermaids in Greek mythology. As a kid, though I loved Disney's "The Little Mermaid" to death, I always thought the sirens tempting Odysseus and the mermaids of European folklore that would comb their hair on the rocks to lure sailors were pretty darn awesome.

I really enjoy harpies too, but there are none in this picture. That bird-woman is a siren, before the sirens lost a contest with the Muses, who then plucked all their feathers out, rendering them flightless.

If this is all jargon to you, brush up on your Greek mythology.
