From my Sketchpad - Yggdrasil Picture

Man, why does it always look so much better in person than when scanned?

Graphite and acrylic

This is my take on an old (predominately) Norse aspect of mythology.
Yggdrasil, also known as 'The World Tree' is the giant ash tree that links and shelters all the worlds. The Æsir [Norse gods: [Odin], Thor, Vidar, Loki, etc, etc) would go to Yggdrasil daily to hold their courts, and the norns who wove the fates of men were said to have lived inside it. The branches of Yggdrasil extend far into the heavens, and the tree is supported by three roots that extend far away into other locations... etc, etc.

I wanted to bring more of a nature loving/goddess type element to the artwork, hence the tree being shaped like a pregnant women, or mother - 'mother earth' supporting all life, like a tree truck supports its leave and branches.

As I said before this looks much better in person!
But yeah just a random sketch/painting I did when I was supposed to be studying 0.o ! lol
