Fate of the Norns Picture

Thence come the maidens
mighty in wisdom,
Three from the dwelling
down 'neath the tree;
Urth is one named,
Verthandi the next,
On the wood they scored,
and Skuld the third.
Laws they made there,
and life allotted
To the sons of men,
and set their fates.

- From The Poetic Edda: Voluspo ( [link] ) -
Inspired after reading about Norse Mythology (and wanting to draw something for fun in between college projects), I decided to draw something based on the Norns. Here are the 3 main Norns, sisters and goddesses of fate who dictate the destiny of gods and men. From left to right:

Urd: Elder sister and ruler of the past, spins out the thread of life
Verdandi: Middle sister and ruler of the present, winds the thread of life
Skuld: Younger sister and ruler of the future, cuts the thread of fate, ending the life when the time comes

Hope you like it!
