In Greek mythology, Hypnos (Sleep) and Thanatos (Death) are twins, the children of Nyx (Night) and Erebos (Darkness). They visit me when my eyes are closed.

A mezzotint is an intaglio process by which one creates a textured plate using a rocker with many microscopic teeth. The plate will look like sandpaper once it is sufficiently rocked. Ink is pushed into the many grooves made by said rocker, and thus the plate will look black. In order to create whites, one must scrape away the surface so that no ink may live there. Now you know.
