Lyssa concept Picture

Concept art for the goddess Lyssa for the new Art Contest created by IronGun.

In Greek Mythology, Lyssa was the spirit of mad rage, frenzy and rabies in animals. She was closely related to the Maniae, the spirits of madness and insanity. Her Roman equivalent was variously named Ira, Furor, or Rabies. Sometimes she was multiplied into a host of Irae and Furores.

Not Wikipedia!

Having Lyssa be a warrior, I chose to make her full-clad in actual functional armor for a change (sorry, but the reveal of Nemesis was a bit disappointing for me).

As a Greek spirit/goddess, I decided to incorporate a Corinthian-styled helmet along with her outfit, and an exaggerated helmet plume, since (in Ancient Greece) Spartiate soldiers preferred helmets with plumage which lent an imposing appearance on the field of battle. The helmet design would be based on the requirement of the type of soldier. Without plumes or with plumes were basically the two types of helmets designed for the spartan warriors. The Spartan helmets without plumes were designed specially for foot soldiers and were made of iron and steel, and the design of this type of helmet was very simple and was made in a silver color. Ordinary Spartan soldiers were using this type of helmet so that they can be easily identified, and warriors of high rank wore the plumed style of helmets, with the plumes serving to distinguish battle leaders from the rank and file. Added some horns for added effects. :3

As for the glowing hand, it could be incorporated into a sort of cast ability, whether it be to summon rabid dogs, or a form of CC (as all warriors in Smite have SOME form of CC. e_e). I originally wanted to make her dual wield two swords, but later on saw that several people also had the idea, so I dropped that concept.

Overall, the point of this "concept" was to create a female warrior that actually... looked like... a warrior....
