In Greek mythology, Circe (Greek Κίρκη) is a minor goddess of magic or sometimes a nymph, enchantress or sorceress, famous for her part in Homer's Odyssey.
By most accounts, Circe was the daughter of Helios, god of the sun, and renowned for her knowledge of drugs and herbs. Through the use of magical potions, she transformed her enemies, or those who offended her, into animals.
