Saved by Father Picture

This is a sketch from my Moleskine journal that depicts a young women turning into a tree. It's based upon the myth of Apollo and Daphne, where Apollo is pursuing the nymph Daphne after being struck by one of Eros's gold-tipped arrows. This particular sketch depicts the moment when Daphne's father (a river god) transforms Daphne into a laurel tree so she can escape Apollo's pursuit. I really like the pose and expression in this sketch, as well as the different textures.

This was drawn with a .05 mechanical pencil, and it was edited with the Camera+ app for iPhone.
