Liriope's child by the water Picture

Liriope is the nymph mother of Narcissus, the excessively handsome hunter. Narcissus was drawn to a pool by Nemesis, here he fell in love with the beauty of his own reflection and was unable to leave the bank of the pool. Here several versions of the legend disagree; some say Narcissus sat so long looking into the pond that he became a flower with head tilted to the water, others say that Narcissus died beside the pool.

Watercolours and acrylics on canvas.
