Tarasque lives near the river in the Southern France Rhone Valley. The dragon like beast was said to be bigger than an ox, had a spiked shell covering it's back, six legs with large bear like claws, a lion like head, barbed spear tail, and scales. The tale told most often about this creature was based in the town of Nerluc. The Tarasque ate travelers, ships and there crewsthat traveled down the nearby river. St. Martha enetered the forest with her crucifix and holy water, finding the beast she kept it at bay with the crucifix while she sprinkled the Tarasque with holy water dazing it and she led it back to the town where the towns people killed it with rocks and spears. The spikes from it's shell were taken off and attached to soldiers armour.
