Ganymede's Suspicion Picture

"Homer describes Ganymede as the most beautiful of mortals. In the best-known myth, he is abducted by Zeus, in the form of an eagle, to serve as cup-bearer in Olympus."

This picture shows Ganymede, one of the most beautiful young men that Zeus fancied, and Zeus in eagle form searching for the youth. Some versions of the myth say that Ganymede went willingly, and others tell of the struggle and resistance that Zeus met upon trying to kidnap Ganymede. Whatever the story, Ganymede is now immortal in the stars as the constellation Aquarius (the cup-bearer), and his name graces one of Jupiter's moons.
