Hephaestus Picture

Hephaestus - God of the Forge/BlackSmithing - also God of Volcanoes

Represented by hammer, tongs and anvil

Hephaestus was Hera's retaliation child to Zeus' creation Athena. Zeus got pissed and threw Hephaestus out of Heaven and thus Hephaestus became lame. He was nursed back to health by the people of the isle of Lemnos and he returned to heaven to be the blacksmith of the Gods. He was married to Aphrodite, who cheated on him continually with Ares. Most myths depict him as a good natured God with reversed/club feet.

"He was flung by Zeus because he came to his mother’s rescue when Zeus was punishing her for opposing him. He fell for an entire day and landed on the island of Lemnos. He was cared for by the Sintians, an ancient Lemnian tribe. But he remained forever lame."[link]
