Medusa - Hello World Picture

And finally, here she is.

Just a bit of background on the Greek mythological woman she got her name from:

"Medusa was believed to be a beautiful woman, her crowning glory being her beautiful hair, and was desired and courted by many suitors.
She was believed to be raped by Poseidon (the brother of Zeus) in the temple of Athena (daughter of Zeus). Athena was furious with Medusa and turned her beautiful hair to snakes and made her face so terrible to behold that the mere sight of it would turn anyone to stone.
Perseus (son of Zeus) was later sent by King Polydectes to retrieve the head of Medusa as a gift. He did so by using winged sandals, Hades’ cap of invisibility and a sword and mirrored shield given to him by Athena and Hermes (Son of Zeus).
He defeated Medusa by looking at her reflection in the shield and beheading her with the sword."

My own speculation:
In some variations of the mytholodgy, it is believed that Medusa willingly took part in the courtship with Poseidon, but I presume that she told Athena about the rape, and since Poseidon is Athena’s Uncle, she was outraged by the “story” Medusa was telling her.

There are many variations of the myth, but this was the first I ever came to know, and always felt very sorry for Medusa. It was like the "Zeus family" went out of their way to destroy her.

More about Medusa:
She is a Tangerine Honduran Milk Snake.
I bought her on the 4th of October this year. She is about one and a half years old and 132 centimeters in length.
