For the Love of the Sea Picture

This is my other and last entry for --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is King
Neptune *in Roman Mythology*, also known as Poseidon *In Greek Mythology*, God of the Sea. (Also known as, Old Man of the Sea.)

What love means to me what Neptune/Poseidon is to the sea. He loves the sea..and everything that inhabits it. He protects his love.. and those who need it to survive. He's fierce when his love is threatened.. but when he needs the Sea *for whatever purposes..say..war?* she comes to his aid.

To love something so much.. like the sea.. that you'd do anything for her/it.. is what love is about. To be god of something like that.. it's hard not to love it.

A little info on Poseidon: The son of Cronus, the Titan, and Rhea, Poseidon is one of six siblings who eventually "divided the power of the world." His brothers and sisters include: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and the God of all the Gods; Zeus. The division of the universe involved him and his brothers, Zeus and Hades. Poseidon became ruler of the sea, Zeus ruled the sky, and Hades got the underworld.

Poseidon was relied upon by sailors for a safe voyage on the sea. Many men drowned horses in sacrifice of his honor. He lived on the ocean floor in a palace made of coral and gems, and drove a chariot pulled by horses.

This is a large 34-foot-high bronze statue that is on the boardwalk of Virginia Beach.

When I first notice it..was when my boyfriend and I were swimming in the beach.. and I was like "What the hell is that?.. Looks like Mr. Poseidon from here.." We were about 10 blocks from him. In which case..I was right.

I love this statue. Probably because I love Greek Mythology so much. Poseidon in Greek Mythology came before Roman Mythology which they named him King Neptune.

Thanks for looking.
