Persephone Picture

In Greek mythology Persephone was a daughter of Demeter, Goddess of Spring. She was kidnapped by Hades. She was allowed freedom by walking through Hades and entering the world again as long as she ate nothing from the Underworld. She gave into her love of Pomegranates though and ate five pomegranate seeds. Demeter was so upset Hades made a bargain, for each seed Persephone ate she would spend a month in the Underworld, when she came back into the world Demeter rejoiced and the season changed from a desolate winter to spring in rejoice of her return.
