The Pleiades Picture

Another poster for the San Francisco Olympians theater festival. This one, as you may guess, concerns the Pleiades or "Seven Sisters," the companions of Artemis and daughters of Atlas.

Since I had significantly less time to do this poster, I went for style over symbolism. The playwright requested an Alphonse Mucha style poster depicting seven girls in maxi dresses, as the play is set in the 70's. I wanted a flat collage look to the dress patterns, but instead of using the computer, I took different sorts of craft papers and actually cut and glued 'em. Some of the papers I tinted with inks to match the color palette I wanted. Despite all the blood, sweat and tears that would have been avoided with photoshop, I am actually pretty satisfied the result.
