Daphne mask Picture

Nearly four weeks went into this mask, every day for at least two hours. Wows.

For art class, we had to make papier-mâché masks. Our theme, like most of this year, was mythology. We could choose anybody from mythology and just... attempt.

So sticking with my love of trees and such, I decided to do Daphne.

The myth of Daphne and Apollo is very... straightforward. Apollo fell in love with her; she loathed it. She was a nymph, the daughter of a river-god and she was running from Apollo when he chased after her in his "passion", etc. Then she screamed out to her river-god Daddy and in desperation, he changed her into a laurel tree.
