Pygmalion and Galatea Picture

Haha, I had fun with this one...wait, that doesn't sound right.

Another piece in my AP Studio Art concentration theme of "mythological beings and folk tales in modern form."

This time it's the tale of Pygmalion. Long story short, Pygmalion was essentially a sculpture otaku in Ancient Greece. He was so good that he made a sculpture of a woman so realistic he fell in love with it. Aphrodite, being the bitchin' awesome goddess she is, rewards Pygmalion for his devotion to his craft and turns his statue into a real woman. If you're really curious you can go look it up.

My interpretation of Pygmalion and Galatea (the statue) is that of a rude and perverted (but lonely) mechanic and his robot girlfriend. Hopefully that's not too much of a strech. I also did this piece because almost every other piece with the word "Pygmalion" in it on DeviantART is full of emo bullcrap and I resolved to fix that.
