Pisces: Mother and Son Picture

This is another manual-colour work I did, commemorating the birth of the son of a friend of mine. It's based on the mythology of Pisces.

According to myth, in order to escape the wrath of the monstrous Typhon, Aphrodite (Roman: Venus) escapes with her son, Eros (Roman: Cupid) by turning them both into fish and diving into the River Ephraltes. So as to not risk losing her beloved son in the chaotic currents, Aphrodite tied an unbreakable chord around their tails.

This tale always exemplified the protective bond of mother and child.
