When Orpheus Played Picture

When his wife Eurydice died, Orpheus went down to the underworld to convince Pluto to return her to life. He played for the god; the poet Ovid describes how the underworld stopped when Orpheus played. Sisyphus stopped rolling his boulder, Ixion paused in his wheel of fire, Tantalus forgot that he was hungry, and even the Furies paused to listen.
