The Child Bride Picture

Poor Persephone.

I always pictured her sort of like Johanna Spyri's Heidi... a golden, laughing child who ran barefoot through the green summertime with happy laughter and fuzzy woodland animals.

Then all of a sudden, she was snatched away by the God of the Dead and taken to a sunless underworld.

The girl who'd worn daisy chains and flowers was now decked in dark jewelry, cold as bones. Probably the only thing fuzzy down there was Cerberus. And you know the Dead wouldn't leave the poor girl alone... After eternities of pleading with Hades, they suddenly have a queen who might be able to persuade him if only they could first persuade her...
