Mythology: Set Picture

Set is the Egyptian god of chaos and evil. He is also a god of war, deserts, storms, and foreign lands. As the god of deserts, he protects the caravans which travel through the desert, but he also causes sandstorms, which bring him into conflict with his brother, Osiris, god of fertility. The two have been adversaries since the dawn of time, representing summer and winter, the eternal dance of the seasons.

Despite his bad reputation, Set DOES have his good point. He is a loyal and loving husband to his wife, Nephtys, and a father to his son, Anubis. He is also Ra's chief protector, standing at the prow of his barge on its nightly journey through the Underworld, warding off demons, monsters, and even the monster Apophis with his magic spear.
