Norse Mythology - Hel Picture

This is Hel, the Norse goddess of the underworld. She lived in Helheim, the deepest, coldest part of Niflheim. All that died of sickness or old age went to her. She was the daughter of Loki and a frost giantess, but the other Aesir were appaled by her half-living, half-dead body, and cast her into Niflheim to rule there. In her home realm, Hel's power was absolute, to the point that she could defy even Odin himself.
