Persephone Picture

Finally posting, I did it for a final weeks back and I kept thinking I would go back and do touchups and such - but I haven't gotten around to it and I'm not sure I ever will.

Anyways, this is a picture of Persephone from Greek Mythology, [with [Cerberus], the three headed dog who guards the river of Styx] who was whisked away by Hades to become his wife. It was more like imprisonment, and she had been told by her mother Demeter to never eat food of the underworld. But I guess Gods get hungry and have to eat eventually - so she did, somewhere between 3-6 polmogranate seeds [depending of the version you read].

Soon after that, Hermes finally came telling Hades that she was to be given back to her mother. But because of the polmogranate seeds Persephone had eaten, each one represented a month she had to spend in Hades each year - thus, winter, summer, and the seasons in between were created as the earth dies during the time she is in the underworld.

Anyways, hope you like it, I put a lot of time - probably somewhere between 30-40 hours. Done in Corel Painter.
