Awakening Picture

During my residency in Cyprus I explored the ancient myths and their influence on us today. They are almost forgotten dreams which can be revived. Here an innominate mythical deity rises from her sea of dreams to reveal herself. The old gods are not dead; they just slumber in our subconscious.

The work is a metre tall by sixty cms. wide. Line drawing on blue Canson paper drawn with 3B and 6B pencils. Foam is white gouache.

I did a whole sreies of these images using local statuary and Hellenic period pottery designs as source material. Much of it is combined with my ongoing "Sea Pictures".
I have filled a scettchbook with numerous images so this is very much "Work in progress".
