Reason for Redraw: an attempt to show him holding up something. I forgot to ink in the rest of his sandal, oops.

Fun fact: in classical mythology, Atlas never held up the earth. He instead was said to hold up the heavens, which people believed at the time to be something like a dome over the earth (making the motion of the stars Atlas' doing as he turned the inside of the dome). I think the "holding up the earth" myth in modern culture stems from this sculpture…, as the markings on it represent the constellations.

One of the Titans who battled the Olympians. Because of this and the defeat of the Titans, Zeus condemned him to forever hold up the skies.
