Influence Map Meme Picture

I guess I got to do this since everyone else is!

Okami - This is a beautiful game. Period. It's probably one of the best games of the decade, no joke. Definitely the best game for the PS2. Because of this game, I fell in love with a lot of Japanese myths. This game has style leaking out the wazoo and its the cells-shaded sumi-e look that I hope to accomplish in my 3D work.

John K. - The creator of Ren and Stimpy. I grew up watching Ren and Stimpy and because of that, I love drawing dopey and adorable characters like Stimpy. I love the crazy style of animation used that never seem to stay on model.

Invader ZIM - Like Ren and Stimpy I grew up watching Invader ZIM, yet again the funny, stupid and adorable character GIR had his influence on me. Even some of my character proportions are drawn from this show, thin scrawny limbs and such.

Fanboy & Chum-chum - Even though I just recently started watching this show, its really grown on me. This is by far the greatest 3D animated cartoon in the history of cartoons. It draws so much from zany traditional 2D animation that I love. It is exactly that that I want to use in my 3D animation, a mix of both mediums. If you enjoy traditional animation as well as 3D animation, this show is for you.

Missmonster - Definitely a huge influence on me. Missmonster Mel, or Melita Curphy, was the very first artist on deviantArt that I fell in love with. I love the movement in her art and her use of curves. I'm definitely influenced by her anatomy of creatures as well. She is one of the main reasons why I love mythology so much because so much of her work focuses on creatures of various world mythologies. She's definitely one of my faves.

Team Fortress 2 - Not only is this one of the best games for PC, its character design definitely has a huge influence on me. The largest influence is the proportions. Large stocky arms and upper bodies supported by thin legs. Its also set in the 1950s-60s which is intriguing to me

Pixar - Pixar really should be covering this entire map, but most of their influence is less on the visual artistic side and more on the personal influence side. Everyone has seen Toy Story, and I am no exception. I grew up watching Pixar's movies and I love em all. Pixar is definitely the main reason that I am going into 3D computer animation at CCS. The stories, characters and style are the work of master and I really would love to work among them someday.

Miyazaki - Though his movies may not manifest themselves in my art, I regard Hayao Miyazaki as one of the greatest directors of our time which feeds my love of animation, whether it be American, Japanese or whatever.

Richard Williams - He is definitely one of the greatest living animators. He directed Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Thief and the Cobbler for you noobs who don't know.

Dreamworks - While Pixar has had the greatest influence on me with 3D animation, Dreamworks has influenced me as well. I liked Shrek, adored Kung Fu Panda and loved How to Train Your Dragon.
