Chimerical Fancy Picture

As part of an IB (International Baccalaureate) Art class, I was doing research on my themes of fantasy and portraiture, and since I like doing the whole anthro (?) thing, I looked up the creature called the Chimera. The Chimera of Greek/Roman myth was part she-lion, part goat, and part dragon. I decided to take this image, and revamp it into something personal, as an extension of myself. The jaguar is power, the bat is darkness within as well as the freedom one experiences when in tune with one's dark side, the sea snake is artistry and flexibility, and the zebra is quickness of mind and individuality. The rest is basically human. Mind you, this is an oil painting on brown paper and is about six feet high!
