Bestiarius Picture

This is for a collection of dragon illustrations that a friend of mine is putting together. Thanks Leo! At the time I was reading Joseph Campbell's "The Power of Myth" and was interested in his ideas about "slaying the dragon" or overcoming personal obstacles.

Some alternative history for you: The Bestiarii were the Roman gladiators who were tasked with fighting wild beasts. Sadly, demand for the European Dragon in the ring caused the species to go extinct in the 3d Century CE. This type of dragon is known for its gas bladder in its throat--where it stores methane, allowing it to breath fire.
