Ilmatar Picture

Ilmatar is the goddess of air in Finnish mythology (her name literally means "female air spirit"). According to the myth a goldeneye (a small duck) made a nest on the knee of Ilmatar and when she stretched out her leg, goldeneye's eggs fell into the sea and the world came into existence from fragments of these eggs.
