After losing her frog-skin to Prince Ivan’s betrayal, a young witch Vasilisa Premudraya sets out to reclaim her gifts and magic from her father, Koschei the Deathless. Unknown to her, the lich has been murdered in his own castle, his needle snapped, his kindgom thawing and every tale in the forest turning twisted with the tide of a waning war between human and myth.


I’ve started chipping away at some personal projects that have been kicking around my head for a while. Feudal-era Russia is ripe with material to play with, and I am not entirely sure what this world will look like — I want to tackle as many traditional Russian tales as I can and put my own twist on them, I want to show both darker and brighter sides of that mythology since it’s such a massive inspiration to me.

Vasilisa is a role-reversal of the hero’s quest in the Frog Princess.
