Sleipnir Picture

This was a massive 4 by 5 foot painting that I have wanted to do for almost a year now, and now that its finished, I am beyond extatic. I believe that I have reached a new level with my art and painting, and I cannot wait to do more paintigs that continue with this theme.

The name Sleipnir comes from the mythological horse from Norse myth - Odin's magical steed. The horse was known for having more legs than the average horse, and that was where I recieved my inspiration. I wanted to approach my animal paintings realistically, but still with an undertone of fantasy. So it was that I came up with the idea to do paintings of animals with deformaties, animals born with extra limbs or other appendages. It happens frequently in real life, but at the same time it makes the animals look mythical.
