Kelpie Picture

This was by far the hardest one for me to paint at the 08 summer program and I am still not particularly satisfied with it. It looks nothing like my original vision and the water is not very convincing.
But it's also the biggest painting I've ever done! Roughly 3x4 feet, I don't remember exactly.
In myth, kelpie live in water and lure the unwary onto their backs, whereupon they dive to the bottom of their lake, river, or marsh and eat the (human) victim. They're usually white or fish colored and generally appear in Irish/ British/German mythology.
