Ymir Picture

According to the nordic creation myth, Ymir is born from the great nothingness, Ginnungagap, and is the forefather of all jotuns; he sweats them from his armpits, crotch and feet. He is then killed by Odin and his two brothers to stop the flow of Jotuns, and they create the visible world from his corpse. His flesh becomes the soil, his bones the mountains, his blood the seas, and his skull the vault of heaven held up by four dwarves in each corner of the world, and his brains are thrown to the winds and become the clouds.
