Cliodhna Picture

This is Clíodhna, Queen of the Banshees of the Tuatha Dé Danann. In some Irish myths she is a goddess of love and beauty.
A Banshee is a fairy woman who begins to wail if someone is about to die. In Scottish mythology, Banshees are seen washing the blood stained clothes or armour of those who are about to die.

My scanner didn't get the colours right. Her dress is much greener in the original painting.
