This project is first and foremost a labor of love, just as it is an allegory reflecting on the nature of Love. It has been, and will continue to be, a long journey of much effort, energy, and hours. As a result, I particularly appreciate your support and encouragement.

The etymological origin of the word Paradise is “walled enclosure”. Such a meaning invokes ideas of both sanctuary and entrapment. It is a safe place, but a safe place from which escape is not intended or expected. In various mythologies and religions, Paradise refers to a garden of incomparable splendor and sustenance. It refers to an ancient Golden Age, a future destiny, or a place that exists outside of time, untouched by this world. It is a place where myths live, dreams are real, and ideas assume tangible forms.

Such visions have haunted artists and poets in every culture, in every age. While the theme of this project is Paradise, this virtual representation is but a shadow of an idea flickering on the wall of Plato's cave. Still, I continue to search my heart and imagination for the angles and structures that will best communicate the vision.

In the end, I have decided that simplicity is key. I make no attempt to disguise the walls of Paradise – in fact, you cannot forget them. They constraint your every activity, even as they allure you with mysterious and puzzling imagery.

At the center of the garden is the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life is a popular symbol embraced by many traditions. It is the cosmic source, the heart of heaven. In this project, it is not only a tree, but an organic machine possessing a beautiful but sleeping sentience. It is the heart and treasure of Paradise.
