Grandfather Buzzard's Flight Picture

In the Cherokee creation myth, Grandfather Buzzard was sent to scout out the land that the water beetle Dayuni'si had made and to see if it was dry. The longer Grandfather Buzzard flew the more tired he got until eventually his wings kept dipping and creating furrows in the earth. Thus were mountains and valleys formed.
