Phaeton Picture

A drawing for my Conceptual Drawing class. We had to get a scene from the greek story of Phaeton, and illustrate our own version of it, and color it in a painterly fashion.

For those of you who don't know the story, Phaeton is the son of the Sun god Helios. He wanted to ride his father's chariot and persuaded him to. He got his way and up in the air, the horses felt a weaker hand on the reins so they went out of control. Zeus saw this and tried to stop him with his bolt of lightning. It caused this burning chariot to crash into the earth, burning the skin of africans, which made them turn black.
