Lachesis Picture

Lachesis is one of the three Fates from Greek mythology. Her role is to pull the thread taught and examine it.

All three fates only share one eye. She receives hers at noontime when the sun is to her back and high in the sky. The eye of this sculpture is in the form a shadow that she casts in front of her at her feet (see Lachesis' Shadow).

Her headdress is a shell, calling to mind development through growth throughout life.

Glazed in a traditional copper glaze because she's female and copper has an affinity with Venus via alchemy.
